BS&W Net Volume
Estimate the volume remaining after deducting basic sediment and water (BS&W) from an input volume. This is a percentage deduction, not a complete custody measurement or a determination of a load's value.
Enter the gross volume (any unit) and the BS&W percentage — the net volume updates live, in the same unit you entered.
All results are an engineering estimate — not for custody transfer. Field measurement and certified tables govern.
The formula
Adjusted volume = input volume × (1 − BS&W percentage ÷ 100). Enter the percentage as a percentage: a reading of 0.5% is entered as 0.5, not 0.005. The output stays in the same volume unit as the input.
Worked example
For a hypothetical input of 100 volume units and a BS&W reading of 0.5%, the deduction is 0.5 units and the result is 99.5 volume units. No actual customer or operating measurements are used in this example.
What the result means
The calculation applies only the percentage entered. It does not correct for temperature or pressure, assess sampling quality, or validate the laboratory method. Those are separate parts of a measurement process. Do not label an uncorrected result as net standard volume or use it to replace the approved custody measurement procedure.
